JoeysCoat comes to Bergamot Studio

We are delighted to host a trio of events this weekend; First Friday Art Walk, a trunk and fashion show launching JoeysCoats, masterfully tailored coats for canines, and a RosieBones whole food dog treats tasting.

On Friday, September 6, BERGAMOT STUDIO will feature the pastels of Leslie Wu; mixed media and collage by Deanne Belinoff, Don Cole, and Joan Wortis; paintings by Don Cole, Suzanne deCuir, and Gretchen Hancock; monotypes by Mary Margaret Briggs and Brian Fisher; and digital photographic montage by Kassana Holden. Also on offer are exclusively designed pottery by hristine Beck, leather ware by Bill Cleaver, and jewelry by Danielle Carbone. BERGAMOT STUDIO will be open until 9pm.

On Saturday, September 7 from 1:00pm to 4:00pm, Robin Bridgman of JoeysCoat will host a trunk show at BERGAMOT STUDIO, displaying multiple couture-style coats for canines, masterfully tailored by Islander Dana Lazare. Robin will be available to discuss the unique materials and treatments woven into each JoeysCoat.

Sunday, September 8 from 3:00pm to 5:00pm BERGAMOT STUDIO will be joined by multiple furry friends for a JoeysCoat fashion show, followed by a dog treat tasting sponsored by RosieBones Whole Food Dog Treats, also made on Vashon Island. All couture-curious and well-behaved dogs are welcome to attend!

10% of all shop sales on Saturday and Sunday will be donated to Vashon Island Pet Protectors.

Garden Tour

This is the weekend for Vashon Island's Garden Tour and, here at the shop, we'll be welcoming visitors to the island from the North and South ferries as they come through Burton.

It brings a flood of memories of gardens I've tended and loved, so I'm going to dig into my photo album and share a few images with you along with a few images of the shop on Vashon Island.

Trunk Show

I'm very happy about our next event, coming up on Father's Day with Bill Cleaver, a master leather craftsman who's been living and working on Vashon Island for 25 years. His instinct for authenticity and his attention to detail has helped him build a reputation as an artist in his field.

I hope you'll have a chance to come by the shop on Sunday, June 16th between the hours of 1:00 and 4:00 pm, when he'll be showing his work and sharing the story behind each of these unique, one-of-a-kind, handmade pieces.

First Friday Gallery Cruise; June 7

We're getting ready for our 'Gallery Cruise' again here on the island. This is the second month of the 'Indigo; Blues and the Abstract Truth' Group Show and I have to say that it's been a real privilege to show such outstanding work from so many great artists, on and off-island.

The recent paintings of Carole Meriam depict crows and ravens in various activities. The way she captures these fascinating birds, so well known to all of us and yet so mysterious, has sparked many conversations among the visitors to the shop.

Gretchen Hancock is another favorite of both island and off-island visitors. Her precise and spare brushwork is an inspiration to me - how she manages to capture so much information in a few strokes is masterful.

The jewelry of Sandrhyme, by Danielle Carbone is so unique and I was thrilled when she brought this special group in to coordinate with the theme of the show.

Our 'Little Shirley' bud vases continue to bring people in to the shop, especially when they're looking for gifts or are setting a table for a special occasion. For those who don't yet know the story - they are made by Seattle's own Lauren Burman of Material Good. Inspired by her Grandmother's courageous fight with cancer, she created these vases as a way of giving back and continues to build her business with a heartfelt focus on philanthropy.

Bergamot Studio

Welcome to our blog! Two years after leaving a corporate job I held for 15 years, I’m elbow deep into a new venture, complete with many technological challenges in a brand new community. After 25 years designing for apparel and home furnishings companies, I’m delighted to turn my attention to creative projects where I can connect directly with apparel and interior designers, artists and manufacturers.

Bergamot Studio is a full-service textile design studio, owned and operated by me, Kassana Holden. We provide design and digital printing services to apparel companies, interior designers, textile artists, fine artists and crafters. From original design development to presentation swatches, prototype yardage to small production print runs, the studio provides a wide range of textile printing services.

You can see examples of products made with my own printed designs on lighting, textiles and paper products at Bergamot Home, our retail shop:  www.bergamothome.com.

We plan to share with you updates and examples of work we are doing for our customers. Please check back soon!
